St. James’s Club Mamora Bay Divers PADI Scuba Center

St. James ClubSt. James’s Club & Villas has opened a new on-site PADI scuba center in Antigua. According to the press release, the scuba center provides everything from introductory “Discover Scuba” courses to open water PADI dive certification and night dives. The dive masters will take you to sites like Sunken Rock, an underwater pillar that goes from depths of about 30 meters to about two meters; Sam’s Hangover, which sounds like what happens after a frat party, but really is a relaxing drift dive; and the dramatic Pillars of Hercules.

To celebrate the new center, St. James’s is offering a five night all-inclusive Antigua Divers package. Available through December 20, 2008, the package is priced from $1,615 per person and provides three days of diving (with two tank dives per day including equipment and instruction) accommodations, all meals, top-shelf beverages, non-motorized water sports, taxes and service charges.

“Having the new scuba dive shop on property makes it very convenient for our guests — whether they’re experienced or novice divers — to discover Antigua’s fascinating undersea attractions,” says Steven E. Heydt, Elite Island Resorts president. “With a thriving reef and underwater visibility that generally ranges between 60 and 80 feet, Antigua is an exceptional dive location. Plus, after their adventures, our guests will enjoy St. James’s Club & Villas renowned caring service and exclusive amenities.”

St. James’s Club & Villas is a resort found on a secluded peninsula on the southeastern coast of Antigua. Grown-up’s may take issue with the children running around the place. If you’re after a romantic, adults-only trip, this is definitely not the place. However, if you have a family, you’ll be happy to hear that kids under the age of 12 stay for free.
