BVI Music Festival

The BVI Music Fest is the big musical shindig in the lovely British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean. Each May, artists from around the globe make their way to Cane Garden Bay on the island of Tortola for the three day jam. Acts range from reggae to blues to salsa to gospel. This year, the festival will take place from May 23 to 25, 2008. The 2008 BVI Music Fest Lineup Looks great, with performances from Damien Gong Marley, Jr. and David Rudder. And you couldn’t ask for a better location for a festival, the BVI’s are chock full of great things to see and do.

Transportation

There are three shuttles available for festival goers. For $5.00 each direction, you can hop on and off at the Road Town Admin Building, the parking lot adjacent to the West End Police Station (that would be the one to use if you’re taking a ferry) or Rudy’s Bar. Pick-up’s will take place every half hour from 6:00 to 11:30 each evening. Return trips are “Continuous immediately following last performance.”

Ferries are available from the West End, directly in to Cane Garden Bay. If this is your plan, you have to park in the lot adjacent to the West End Police Station and get the shuttle to the Dock at West End. Ferries will run every hour on the hour from 7:00 to 11:00. Return trips will run continuously from 1:30am – 3:30am. Call me crazy, but I suspect you could hop on one of the earlier boats dropping off passengers. They are going back to the same place, after all. Ferries from St. Thomas to Tortola only run during daylight hours, so plan accordingly.
