Resorts in Anguilla

Resort in AnguillaWith a coastline of 19 miles, Anguilla offers numerous sandy beaches. Shoal Bay Beach, Rendezvous Bay and Mead’s Bay are among the most popular places where the best resorts are located.

Tourist season

Anguilla is blessed with lovely temperatures all year round. Between June and November however, the weather is rainy. It rains daily but in short bursts. However hurricanes are possible but that doesn’t happen too often. Storms are quite frequent though. The peak tourist season is represented by Christmas and New Years, while the high season extends until end of March. The prices start to climb the week before Christmas and won’t come down until the beginning of April. If you are planning to save some money on your vacation, then book your hotel and flight during the shoulder season: early December or early April.

Worth trying

Cap Juluca

Many say that Cap Juluca is the best resort in Anguilla. And they just might be right since the resort has been voted the best resort in the entire Caribbean by the subscribers to Travel & Leisure magazine. The best thing about the resort is that it’s the only building on an entire island so you pretty much have the beach for yourself. The villas come with a magnificent view and some even with private pools. The luxury comes with a hefty price though. Three bedroom villas with a private pool cost up to US$3,125/night during the spring season (April), while during the high season (January to March) the same villa costs US$5,245/night. Rates are their lowest during summer (May to November, which happens to be the hurricane season) when you can stay in a superior room for US$400/night.

Rendezvous Bay Hotel and Villas

This is Anguilla’s first beach resort. The resort was opened in 1962 and ever since it has offered deluxe beachfront accommodation. The resort includes private cabanas overlooking the water, as well as a lovely spa, fitness center, swimming pools, tennis court, games room and children play area. There are restaurants, bars and cafes which cater for the most exotic tastes. Unfortunately the hotel is closed until 2009 for renovations.

Tips

Most of the resorts on the island have special offers all year round but the information is not exactly available via the online booking systems. That’s where a good travel agent comes in handy. If you have enough flexibility in your schedule, make sure to ask the travel agent if there are any special offers available and what they comprise.
