Hotels in the Caribbean

Hotel in the CaribbeanThere are excellent hotels on pretty much every big island in the Caribbean. Hotels are located either within the resorts – and are always the most expensive – or outside the resorts, which is the case of those cheaper hotels owned by locals.

Climate and tourist season

The weather in the Caribbean is amazing all year round. The wet season – June to November – is generally characterized by short heavy rains followed by sun. Although there is the risk of hurricanes on most islands it’s so small that it’s not even worth mentioning.

The peak season is between Christmas and New Years and the high season extend up until the beginning of May. Cheaper rooms will always be found between May and September.

Prices

Prices for the hotel rooms in the Caribbean range from affordable to really expensive. The affordable prices can be found either at the smaller hotels, generally owned by locals, or at the bigger hotels…when they offer special discounts.

Prices start to climb in mid-December and are at their highest during Christmas and New Years. They are still high between January and end of April but by mid-May there will be a drop in prices enough to make anyone want to visit the islands. Most resorts have special discounted packages for their hotels during the low-season.

Pay attention to the taxes. In general they are not included in the room prices but they might be included if you purchase all inclusive packages.
