Jamaica is a popular Caribbean destination which attracts not only couples looking for a romantic getaway but also reggae lovers looking for a real experience. There are plenty other things to do besides soaking up the sun and listening to music though. You can go horseback riding, hiking and, of course, snorkel and dive.

Generally when we plan a vacation the hotel plays an important part in our budget. If you don’t like to stay in the room much and would rather spend time outside checking out the places, then a budget hotel is more than enough for you but if you plan a romantic getaway you’d want a fancier room and some facilities (like a spa). While if you are planning to take your kids for a lovely vacation in Jamaica you need to find a resort which offers enough facilities to keep the little guests entertained.

Here at WhyGo Caribbean we tried to select some of the best hotels for several types of travelers.

For a romantic escape

Jamaica is known as a romantic destination for those who prefer to spend their special time “au natural”. Yes, there are several adults/couples-only resorts which offer the best retreat for those who want this kind of a romantic vacation. Such resorts offer special romantic packages, which usually comprise candle lit dinner and massage for two.

There are, of course, other resorts excellent for a romantic escape. You can choose to spend a dream vacation in cottages located right on the beach front or in a boutique resort, considered one of the most luxurious in Jamaica. Packages are also available and in some cases you can save a lot by booking directly on the resort’s website.

For the families

For the families with kids finding the best vacation spot can be trickier than for the rest of us. As parents you want your kids to have as much fun as you do, so this involves finding a resort which offers entertainment and facilities for the little guests.

Fortunately there are plenty of resorts in Jamaica which offer facilities for families. If you traveling with toddlers you’ll need a place which has a baby sitting facilities while if your kids are older you should choose a place with a kids swimming pool and maybe arcades.

For example, places like Beaches Sandy Bay in Negril and Breezes Montego Bay in Montego Bay both offer game rooms. Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort and Spa in Ocho Rios offers plenty of activities for the kids including special programs, baby-sitting facilities and game room.

For the sports enthusiasts

If you are living an active life, chances are you will want to do the same during your vacation. Jamaica is a great destination if you plan to play tennis. Many love to test their skills under the sunny skies in a tropical setting.

Couples Swept Away in Negril offers 10 tennis courts. It is a resort aimed at couples so it can be fun to mix a romantic getaway with playing tennis and trying their other fitness class and spa treatments.

For the budget traveler

While high-end resorts can burn a hole in your budget, the low key, casual, places are easy to find and the prices are acceptable. You can even stay directly on the beach and have breakfast included in the room price… not too shabby for a budget hotel, right?

In most cases, such places offer a restaurant and are located close to the beach so you don’t need to make too many compromises. Of course, the other facilities offered won’t match the high-end resorts (you’ll have a fan in the room instead of AC).
