Just about every island in the Caribbean celebrates Carnival at this time of the year, but Bermuda sets itself apart by offering the Bermuda International Love Festival on Valentine’s weekend. It will be “a weekend created solely for the celebration of love.”
This year, Grammy Award winners Gladys Knight and Regina Belle will entertain guests, according to the Bermuda Department of Tourism.
The festivities will take place on Valentine’s Weekend, February 15-18, 2008. The tourism board invites “couples from all over the globe are invited to reconnect, rekindle and revive their spirit of love on this enchanted island paradise.” If you’re looking for a fantastic last minute surprise for your partner, and if you have the cash flow to visit this particularly expensive locale, then look no further.
This year’s festival will be hosted by the swanky Fairmont Southampton resort, is chock full of day and night activities designed to inspire love. The festivities include:
- A Champagne & Chocolate Welcome Reception
- Private performance by Regina Belle
- Sunday Gospel Brunch
- The Sweetheart’s Ball with an intimate performance by the legendary Gladys Knight
That’s not all. Attendees are also invited to enjoy romantic movie screenings, a Pink Beach Walking Tour, Ballroom Dance Lessons, Salsa Lessons, Line Dance Lessons and a Couples Massage Class. I’d go for the salsa and the massage, myself.
Packages are available for the Bermuda International Love Festival starting at $859.00 per person, not including airfare. This price includes three nights double occupancy accommodations at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel, as well as all Love Festival events that take place from February 15 to 18, 2008.
