Beaches

The Caribbean is all about spending time on the beach, enjoying the weather, sipping a cocktail and spending quality time with friends and family. If you ask people what their image of paradise is, you’ll most likely be answered: “a Caribbean island” or “a beach in the Caribbean”.

The clear water, nice sand and the sea air can be found all over the Caribbean , but there are some beaches which have gained their reputation of being the “best” in the area.

1. Cane Garden Bay, British Virgin Islands

This beach is 2 km long and is a favorite among those who love to work out on their vacation. Walkers and joggers come here for the soft, white sand.

2. Shoal Bay, Anguilla

This stretch of beach is particularly known for the snorkeling opportunities. But you can also pack a picnic basket and enjoy a day in nature , feeling the nice sand and enjoying the clear waters.

3. Luquillo Beach, Puerto Rico

It is one of the most photographed beaches in the Caribbean thanks to its white sands. Protected by the rough waters of the Atlantic by a coral reef, this beach is well developed and offers good facilities including picnic areas, lockers and showers.

4. Grace Bay Beach, Turks & Caicos

The 20 km beach has been named “World’s Leading Beach” at the World Travel Awards for 4 years. With fame came development so now there are a lot of resorts in the area but the snorkeling here is still amazing.

5. Seven Mile Beach, Cayman Islands

If you are looking for secluded beaches, this is not for you, but if you have water sports in mind, then you are in the right place. Dotted with resorts and condos, you’ll never be too far from the beach.

6. Palm Beach, Aruba

This beach made the list of the best 12 beaches in the world, according to Condé Nast Traveler. With such popularity come great crowds, so winters are to be avoided if you want some peace and quiet. Still, it’s excellent for swimming and sailing.

7. Pink Sand Beach, Bahamas

The Travel Channel named this beach of “The best beaches in Bahamas” and rightly so: the 3 ½ miles of perfect pink sand and the clear ocean offer a perfect place for swimming, diving and snorkeling.

8. The Gold Coast/Platinum Coast, Barbados

This stretch of coast is home to some of the best (and most expensive) hotels in the Northern Hemisphere , but the beaches are also fantastic.

9. Orient Beach, St. Martin

It is often referred to as the French Riviera of the Caribbean. This small beach is dotted with restaurants and bars. But although small, it has a nudist section.

10. Seven Mile Beach, Jamaica

The beach contains some nudist sections and is close to some of the most hedonistic resorts in the Caribbean.

11. Playa Paraiso, Cuba

If you are looking for a lovely beach with few facilities and not many tourists, this is a good choice. There is one beachside restaurant and plenty of fine sand.

12. Canouan, The Grenadines

If you want a secluded beach, then head to the Canouan, a string of islands lying south of St. Vincent. The beaches here are not crowded even during the high season, so you’ve got the sand and the water pretty much for yourself.

13. Trunk Bay, U.S. Virgin Islands

It is one of the most popular beaches in the Caribbean and a well known stop for the cruise ships. Snorkeling is amazing and you get to see a rainbow of fish.
