Carnival Cruise Lines is offering special rates on staterooms for active duty and retired military personnel this month, May 2008, called Salute Our Troops. Room rates start at a rock bottom $219 per person, which is quite a bargain. These deals are so smokin’, I almost wish I was still married to that Army guy. Almost…

Scilly Cay, Anguilla
Scilly Cay is a restaurant, it’s an island, it’s a restaurant found on a private coral island found off the coast of Anguilla, right off the coast from the village of Island Harbour. This location makes a nice day trip from Anguilla, with space to swim and snorkel. Scilly Cay is home to a dining establishment owned and operated by Sandra and Eudoxie Wallace. The restaurant is the only thing on the island, which gives you some idea of the size. Electricity is not available on Scilly Cay, …

St. Lucia Jazz Festival
The St. Lucia Jazz Festival rocks the island of St. Lucia in May of each year. This event was created as a marketing scheme, and has grown to be one of the largest events in the territory. With one main stage and “The Fringe Activities” taking place on separate stages, you’re sure to be entertained. Probably the best thing about the St. Lucia Jazz festival is that it is pretty reasonably priced or even free, which is a rare thing in the Caribbean. The 2008 St. …

California Lighthouse in Aruba
California Lighthouse is found on the north side of the island of Aruba in the Caribbean. There are heaps of things to do should you take a day trip to the lighthouse, unfortunately the interior of the structure is closed so a tour is not among the activities. Tourists flock to California Lighthouse to be swept away by the stunning views available from the hill. Dune surfing is available on nearby sand dunes for the adventurous, provided you take appropriate clothing such as jeans or long pants. Divers …

Scuba Diving in the Caribbean: Fish Identification
Scuba diving and snorkeling are one of the Caribbean’s main attractions, with crystal clear, warm water and reef systems teeming with wildlife. I’ve done my fair share of snorkeling in the Caribbean, Australia and Belize, but I have seldom known what exactly I was seeing. As far as I was concerned “I saw a real pretty blue fish, and some coral and a barracuda, I think.” Recreational divers and snorkelers often run in to such problems. Today I found the solution on YouTube. Following are video clips showing common types of fish, along …

The Baths at Virgin Gorda
The Baths are a stunning natural phenomenon found on the Caribbean island of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands. The site is a national park, and the most visited place in the British Virgin Islands.
Gigantic granite bounders, some as much as 40 feet in diameter, are the focal point of The Baths. Some are completely submerged, while others may be partially or fully above the water line. The origins of the rocks are under constant debate, but it is thought they were created by the weathering of softer …
